About Us

The Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) is an Ontario-wide initiative originated in early 2008 and funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) (formerly Citizenship and Immigration Canada), in cooperation with the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI) through the Canada-Ontario Immigration Agreement (COIA).

Our purpose is to strengthen the role of local communities across the province in integrating and serving the newcomer population.

The Local Immigration Partnership Council (LIPC)
Sub-Committee for Renfrew County

The Local Immigration Partnership Council’s (LIPC) primary purpose is to act as a community advisory body lending direction to the execution of the Rural Mosaic: Building on Strengths and Seizing Opportunities Strategic Plan for Renfrew and Lanark Counties that will serve to employ collaboration, research, and positive strength-based leadership, complemented by a focus on competitive economic sustainability, in order to foster a welcoming and healthy community.

Members of the LIPC will provide leadership, wisdom, and industry-specific knowledge of challenges and opportunities that directly relate to settlement issues. The group will help identify gaps in services for newcomers, help determine best practices for attracting new Canadians to our area, and engage in worthwhile discussions and activities concerning the enhancement of diversity in Renfrew and Lanark Counties as a means to economic stability and growth.
